ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Renee
Alda Marazon is the author of several popular publications including her most
recent works titled The Marazon Database. Mrs. Marazon received her Bachelor
of Arts degree from Ursuline College in Pepper Pike, Ohio, and a Master's degree
from Bowling Green State University. She held a faculty position at Lourdes
College in Sylvania, Ohio from 1983 to 1997. In 1985, she founded an employer-supported
childcare center as a collaborative venture between Lourdes College and the
St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. She was Chairperson of the Early
Childhood Department at Lourdes for from 1989 to 1997. During that time she
designed a birth-to-grade-three degree programs as well as Pre-kindergarten
Associate, Pre-kindergarten, and Kindergarten to Grade 3 certificate programs.
Mrs. Marazon has served as a national and international consultant to early childhood professionals including Family Communications, Inc. (Mister Rogers' Neighborhood), The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, The Puzzle Place Outreach Advisory Board (KCET, California PTV), the United States Air Force Family Member Programs, and Magnificat Ministries. She is a popular speaker at local, state, and national conferences.
Marazon Systems are used around the world in U.S. Military Family Member Programs, in public and private elementary schools, charter schools, preschools, and childcare centers, home-based and family childcare programs, and YMCA programs. Recent Marazon System productions include The Self-Paced Training Modules, The Marazon Database, and the Employee Professional Development System. The Modules and the PDS both carry options for continuing education units.
In her varying professional roles, she expresses a passion for the child that draws others to continually see each child as a unique gift from God. Her message is constant-- "Look to the child. Check in with the child. See the child as competent and gifted." In what she considers to be her most important calling-family life, Mrs. Marazon is married to David, mother of two boys, Matthew and Stephen Wowk, stepmother (S-mom) to Nicole and Jon Marazon, and Nonna to Alexander, Alyssa, Will, and Erik.
