Messengers of God’s Love
Every year on September 29, the Church celebrates the Feast of the Archangels: Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael. These heavenly beings are not only figures of devotion but also living reminders of God’s constant presence in our lives. Each one carries a mission: Michael defends, Gabriel proclaims, and Raphael heals.
Their feast is an opportunity to reflect not only on God’s messengers but also on how we are called to serve with the charisms the Holy Spirit gives us. At MAPS for Life, you will find programs and events that help families and communities discover and live out these gifts in everyday life.
St. Michael: Protector and Defender
St. Michael is known as the leader of the heavenly hosts. His very name means “Who is like God?” In the Book of Revelation, he appears fighting against the forces of evil, becoming a symbol of courage, justice, and truth.
Practical inspiration: When facing temptation, fear, or injustice, we can turn to St. Michael for strength. His example inspires us to defend what is good and to protect those who are vulnerable.
St. Gabriel: Messenger of Good News
Gabriel is the Archangel who announced to Mary the Incarnation of Christ, bringing the most transformative message in history. He represents hope, faith, and the joy of God’s Word.
Practical inspiration: Like Gabriel, we too can be messengers of hope. Our words carry power—to encourage, to console, and to announce good news in our families, communities, and workplaces.
St. Raphael: Guide and Healer
In the Book of Tobit, Raphael appears as a traveling companion and healer. His name means “God heals”, reminding us that God’s love restores what is broken.
Practical inspiration: We can ask for his intercession in times of illness, grief, or uncertainty, but we can also become “Raphaels” in the lives of others: listening, accompanying, and offering compassion.

The Archangels and Our Charisms
The Archangels reflect the charisms that God continues to give His people:
Michael inspires us to live out the charisms of strength, protection, and leadership.
Gabriel reflects the charisms of communication, teaching, and proclamation.
Raphael embodies the charisms of healing, guidance, and compassion.
At MAPS for Life, we work to help individuals discover their unique gifts and put them at the service of others, actively participating in God’s mission in the world.

God’s Presence Through His Messengers
Celebrating Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael is much more than remembering angels from the past. It is recognizing that God continues to act in our lives today—protecting, guiding, and healing.
Their example inspires us to defend truth, proclaim hope, and accompany others with love. And in communities of faith like MAPS for Life, we have the opportunity to live these values in a concrete and transformative way.
